How I store bulk laundry soap in my home:

• Laundry soap for daily use:
• I use a Sistema KLIP IT Utility Collection Juice Pitcher for laundry soap that I store on a shelf above my laundry machines, so it's where I need it when I need.
• The 2-liter pitcher holds enough for lots of laundry without being too heavy; I refill it approximately every 4 to 6 weeks.
• The pitcher lid locks, so it doesn't fall off, and the pour spout locks too. 
• The pitcher is perfect for storing reasonable amounts of laundry soap to avoid using the bulk container, especially since there is no room for the bulk container in my laundry area.

• Laundry soap bulk container:
• I store the big bulk container in the mud room with other cleaning supplies I buy in bulk, so it's out of the way but easily accessible when I need it.
• The more often items get used, the better it is to buy them in bulk to save money; I buy the majority of my cleaning supplies at Costco.

What it costs to do our laundry for a year:

• In 2021, we purchased 3 containers of Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent from Costco for our home of two adults.
• At the time of writing this, a 250 fl oz container costs under $18; so, it cost less than $60 for all the laundry detergent we needed in 2021.
• This does not include the cost of the Costco membership or the energy to run the laundry machines; since we have a private well the cost of water doesn't matter.
• One container of laundry soap claims to get through 195 loads, and in 2021 I did 601 loads of laundry which comes out to be a few more loads than advertised!
• I keep track of household spending in an Excel spreadsheet, including a household inventory list of everything we purchase for the year, because I want to know where our money goes.
• I also keep track of the amount of laundry I do in a year because I'm curious enough to want to know, and so I can figure out the cost breakdown of laundry in my home; I love knowing the numbers because it helps us make better decisions with our money!
