Cauliflower Pizza Dinner:
Bad Movie Saturday Night requires two things: a bad movie and a good pizza, which goes together better than a good movie and a bad pizza!
We started Bad Movie Saturday Night in November of 2020 because we both wanted pizza one night a week, and I suggested we eat it with a bad movie; the theme night has stuck, minus a few off weeks here and there.
👉 See all the movies we've watched, and with what kind of pizza, on my Bad Movie Saturday Night list on IMDb.
We've had a few different pizzas over the past couple years, and we recently stumbled upon the cauliflower crust pizza from Costco which we both love for the taste, the ingredients which are better than most frozen pizzas, and the price!
Cost Breakdown & Savings:
- The pizza cost $11.99 the last time it was purchased in October 2022; two pizzas come in a box which breaks down to basically $6.00 a pizza, and we eat one pizza every Saturday night, making the cost $3.00 for each of us or $6.00 for both of us.
- Not pictured are the Cokes we drink with the meal; a 35-pack purchased in September 2022 cost $14.79 and we each have one can which breaks down to $0.43 each, or $0.86 for both of us.
- The total cost of the meal based on the receipt prices ($6.00 pizza + $0.86 drinks) is $6.86 for both of us!
- Compared to going out to the local pizza place, Westside Pizza, it cost us $37.10 the last time we went in September 2022 (after not going there for years); the cost included a wasted tip, and what we got was one large pizza, two small fountain drinks, a dirty table and paper plates. The cost difference between going out for pizza and pizza at home is $30.24 -- plus, we don't eat on paper plates at home, we have Coke at home instead of Pepsi products, and I don't have to sit at a dirty table!
- If we were to eat out at Westside Pizza one Saturday night for a year, that would be 52 weeks times $37.10 (not accounting for inflation or a higher tip), which would be a yearly cost of $1,929.20. Whereas eating Costco pizza with Coke ($6.86) at home for 52 weeks (not accounting for inflation) would cost $356.72, which is a yearly savings of $1,572.48!
Preparation & Clean-Up:
I prepare the pizza in our conventional oven per the directions at 425 degrees for 19 minutes, take it out and let it sit for 4 minutes before slicing it up.
Post-dinner clean-up is fairly easy and includes: two plates, metal tongs (for grabbing the pizza out of the oven), large cutting board, and pizza cutter; all hand-washed, dried, and put away that night, except for the tongs and pizza cutter which I let air dry overnight.
