My husband pointed out something the other day when we were talking about the benefits of me being a housewife.
He said that you can save money by putting it away so that it’s there when you need it, but you can’t put away time and save it for when you need it; there is no saving account for time to draw from.
While being a housewife gives me the time I want to be with my husband, our cats, take care of our home, and enjoy my hobbies, the reality is that it takes time management to do it all; just like it takes money management to make sure all the bills are paid with money left over.
Time is an invaluable resource that cannot be saved or replenished, so I work to not waste the time I have on things that don’t make my home life better; housework comes first and hobbies come later, because my hobbies will always be there when housework is done.
Considering that my husband spends much less time at home than I do, I especially want to make sure that the time he has at home is the best it can be, and that includes our home being the best it can be.
Being irresponsible with my time during the day means I would miss out on quality time with my husband at night in a calm clean home, and that’s time neither of us can ever get back.
Just like money management is an important aspect of being a housewife, managing time is also important and easily overlooked when it comes to the benefits of being an economical housewife.
