Disciplined: showing a controlled form of behavior or way of working.
Although I have been disciplined at times in my life in order to attain short-term goals, being disciplined for long periods of time isn’t something I have excelled at and it’s something I work to get better at every day.
There are some days where I think I’d just as soon not do housework and relax all day, but two things always stop me:
- first, recognizing that I am not physically ill, which is a perfectly good reason to rest;
- and, second, knowing that if I put off housework one day I would only be adding to housework tasks on other days.
Being disciplined when it comes to doing housework every day is a challenge, and it’s also a challenge to leave the house every day to go to a job or to do a job from home; work is a challenge, period.
Life is full of challenges and it helps me to have had other jobs in the past, so that on days when I’m undermotivated I remind myself how fortunate I am to stay home now as a housewife, and all I have to do is housework and be disciplined enough within myself to get it done.
Wanting to be lazy is a want, and I can always be lazy when I’m done with my work.
Needing to do housework is a necessity, and being disciplined to take care of what needs to be done is what I aspire to get better at, not just for my husband and my home, but for myself.
