Dedicated: (of a person) devoted to a task or purpose; having single-minded loyalty or integrity.
A couple thoughts on being a dedicated housewife:
1. Being dedicated isn’t about going through the motions without care or thought; I am not an automaton. Being dedicated is caring about what I do when it comes to housework and my marriage; it also means getting better at what I do and improving my marriage.2. It almost seems wrong to have single-minded loyalty when it comes to being a housewife, but it makes me think: if I didn’t have single-minded loyalty, would I start chasing after other things that don’t serve my home and my marriage which could possibly harm them?
Likewise, is it wrong to have single-minded loyalty to a business when it comes to work? If it’s not wrong to be dedicated in the business world, why does it seem wrong to be dedicated in a marriage? It might be politically incorrect, but it’s not wrong, not at all. In fact, I want to be more dedicated to my marriage than I was to my former career.
Being single-minded in my loyalty to what is mine, namely my home and my husband, is not a bad thing; it keeps me focused on what is most important and that’s what being dedicated is all about.
