Committed: feeling dedication and loyalty to a cause, activity, or job; wholeheartedly dedicated.
Being married means that I no longer have to be committed to anything else in life except my husband; our marriage is my cause, housework is my activity, and I am fully committed to not having a j-o-b that distracts me from my cause and activity.
Based on my own experiences and observances, I think it is dangerous for a woman to overcommit herself to multiple endeavors outside the home, and it is very easy to do; it has become what is expected of women and I do not agree with it.I do not agree with giving more of myself to someone, or something, else if it means all my husband gets is what is left of me after a day of demanding work; I don’t want to put my husband last, I want to put him first.
When my husband had hernia surgery earlier this year, I was glad that I was able to stay home without having to request time off work; I was able to take care of him and make sure he got the rest he needed without it throwing a kink in my nonexistent work schedule.
Every woman is different though and that is part of what makes the world interesting, but for me I am done thinking that I have to be committed to more than one thing at a time especially when it drains me more than builds me up.
All I need to be is a committed wife to my husband, and I want to be the best at it that I can be.
